Company Information

Background:

I was born and raised in a small town on the island of Maui where the county seat is located and was raised by my Grandma Lucy Lani (the reason for the name L.L. Ohana) until I was six years old. She was a full-blooded Hawaiian and taught me to appreciate the “aina” or land and all that was a part of that. She also taught me that family and friends gather and celebrate with food…good hawaii-style food that includes fresh fruits, fresh spices like ginger, Hawaiian sea salt, laughter and love. All of this led me to the love and appreciation of food and the “goodness” it offers.

Product Construction:  These hawaii-style products began in earnest in the humble kitchen of my home located in Reno in 2007.

I spent the better part of the last 15 years perfecting my teriyaki sauce to the amazement and wonder of friends, family and yes, fellow islanders by trial and error (no true Hawaiian gives you the recipe!) and giving it away as gifts while closely guarding the secrets of the well-balanced island flavors of my home in Maui.

It became a bit of an obsession when I retired a few years ago and my wife and I decided to share my love of celebrating good food with friends and family by creating a consistent, well-balanced, sauce that is different and far better than anything the market can currently offer.

I bought my first digital scale and thermometer and set out to create a recipe that could be brought to market. Research led to more research which led to the creation of a recipe which led to the creation of a label which led to a bar code, which led to a bottle type, which led to a capsule (top thingy) which led to a lab for nutritional analysis which led to the co-packer that shared my philosophy of never taking more than you give, which led me to the creation of other hawaii-style sauces and dips which led me to the need to sell these products which now leads me to events like local farmers markets and specialty food storesas venue sto introduce my hawaii-style products to more people.

 Why Mr. G?

George is my name and I'm the master teriyaki sauce maker so it just seemed natural (like our stuff) to use my name.

Why L.L. Ohana?

Lucy Lani

Being Hawaiian and growing up on Maui, my grandma LucyLani was the head of our "ohana"  or family so it is her  that we  honor with that name. She taught me to appreciate the beauty  that surrounded me and to appreciate the "aina" or land.
